Ghassan is the founder of Eco-Structures International and partner in TermoDeck AB (Sweden), where he leads efforts to bring low-cost, sustainable construction and infrastructure solutions to the region and internationally. TermoDeck originally patented a unique and award-winning engineering solution that integrates the building’s concrete structure with the HVAC system, and that results in cutting installed heating and cooling capacities by 50%+, thus reducing project CapEx, OpEx and energy consumption. TermoDeck has been deployed in over 435 projects worldwide (includes over 20 projects in the GCC), in all construction sectors, and proven its effectiveness in both extreme cold and extreme hot climates.
With over 25 years of experience in the construction, power & water, oil & gas, mining and telecommunications, Ghassan has advised and developed infrastructure projects for major multinational firms. His expertise spans both regional and international markets, making him a sought-after advisor for large-scale engineering projects.
Beyond his professional work, Ghassan is a strong advocate for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), regularly consults with government agencies and academic institutions on sustainable development, and has published several articles.
Ghassan completed high school at the age of 14 and went on to become one of the youngest doctoral engineering graduates from George Washington University, USA, where he graduated at the top of his class.
Having lived and worked in the US, UK and the Middle East, Ghassan now lives in Toronto with his wife (lawyer) and three children.
